When we certify a product for electrical safety, we also offer the EMC service at AUD 265 and this also includes a free basic listing on our Marketplace which is where certificate holders can promote their products direct to Australian customers and find buyers for their products. This is a great opportunity for you to add value for your customers.
If you are using braided supply cables, the braid must appear on the supply cable certificate. It is not acceptable to substitute a braided cable for an unbraided cable on any appliance without modifying the approval for the appliance. If you are a cable supplier and you wish to add the braided option to your cable certificate, the flex and cable pulling tests must be completed on the braided model and the certificate modification processed.
ESV RCBO ban
The ESV have instigated a ban on RCBOs in Victoria unless extra testing is completed, samples are submitted and the product registered. You can view details here. It is important to note that this applies to sales of RCBOs in Victoria only and does not affect sales to any other part of Australia or NZ. Your SAA certificate remains valid, even in Victoria.
A reminder that our Recognised Laboratory Scheme is up and running on our website. This is a useful way of finding accredited laboratories to complete testing. It is very popular with Australian applicants sourcing test laboratories.
SAA Approvals is accredited by the Joint Accreditation Service of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) as a third party certification body to issue certificates for electrical equipment that has proven to comply with the safety requirements of the applicable Australian Standard.
SAA Approvals is accepted and gazetted by the New South Wales Fair Trading as a Recognised External Approvals Scheme (REAS) and Queensland Electrical Safety Office as a Recognised External Certification Scheme (RECS).
