Over the New Year break, we have completely caught up with all outstanding applications and we are operating within 1 week again for new applications. We are open and ready to help our customers keep the public safe.

AS/NZS 3136 remains current and applicable for certification as per regulations. Some of you noticed that it was withdrawn on Standards Australia’s website, but the standards committee has instructed that it be reinstated.

AS/NZS 3136依然有效，可用于认证申请。某些客户发现在澳大利亚标准网站上，AS/NZS 3136被撤销了，经过与标准委员会的确认，此标准已经恢复了。

AS/NZS 62368.1:2026 (the AS/NZS version that will adopt IEC 62368-1:2023 Ed. 4.0) has been approved for publication.  The preface states publication is on 6 March 2026.

Regulatory changes

There has been a recent amendment to AS/NZS 4417.2 which sets out the regulatory risk levels for products in the scope of the EESS/RCM. The following categories have been added, noting that the transition date is when the changes become mandatory:

• Arc Welders – standards have changed to IEC 60974-1 for inverter types and AS 60974.1 or IEC 60947-6 for other types, AS/NZS 60335.1 clause 30.2 also now required, as well as a requirement the cord and plug are supplied rated for continuous operation current. • Heat pump hot water heaters without an element are now level 2 and must comply with AS/NZS 60335.2.40 and be registered in the EESS database. Transition date is 12 February 2027.

• EV Chargers are now level 3. Contact us for requirements. Transition date is 12 February 2028.

• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are now level 3 and require certification to SA TS 5398. We will not be providing a service for these products at this stage, as we do not certify to technical specifications. The transition date is 12 February 2028.

• Cord Extension sets are now level 2 and must comply with AS/NZS 3199 and be registered in the EESS database. Transition date for this is 12 February 2027.

• Portable Power Stations are now level 3 and must be certified to AS/NZS 4763. This standard is being revised and modernized, so watch for updates to this standard. The transition date for this is 12 February 2028.

Pricing 2026

2026年价格变更

We will be making a small price adjustment to our fees in 2026. The main fee will increase to AUD 800 (plus GST for Australian applicants) from 1 April 2026 for the vast majority of the standards we process (AS/NZS 60335, AS/NZS 60598, AS/NZS 61558, AS/NZS 62368, AS/NZS 31** series, AS/NZS 61347, AS/NZS 61008/61009, AS/NZS 62560, AS/NZS 60320, AS/NZS 60947, AS/NZS 62841 and all derivatives of these standards). The fee will increase for the other more unusual standards to a higher level, to reflect the extra time and cost associated with processing these applications. The new schedule of fees will be as follows from 1 April 2026.
