EESS Database
All Certificates of Approval issued by SAA are automatically uploaded to the EESS database. Although most records have been uploaded without a hitch, there are a few instances where an entry has to be corrected manually. Please let us know if you have an entry which needs to be fixed.
NSW Gazette Update
A new gazette was published on 7 March 2014. All testing for declared articles submitted after this date must conform with the standards and versions listed in the gazette. The change which will affect our partners the most is to include AS/NZS IEC 61347.2.13:2013 in the power supplies definition. This means that from now on, Australian deviations to the IEC 61347-2-13 must be included when making applications for LED power supplies/drivers. Here is the full list of changes:
List of Gazette Changes
- AS/NZS 60335.1:2011 now includes amendment 1.
- AS/NZS 60335.1:2002 will be withdrawn on April 29, 2014.
- AS/NZS 3100:2009 now includes amendments 1 and 2.
- AS/NZS 60598.1:2003 will expire on November 19 2014.
- AS/NZS 60598.1:2013 now included.
- Appliance Connector now has the following definition added:
Sewing Machine Connector – AS/NZS 60320.2.1:2004
- Blanket standards have been changed to:
AS/NZS 60335.2.17:2004 +A1-2 (until 26/10/2015) or AS/NZS 60335.2.17:2012.
- Fence Energiser standard has been updated to include amendment 3:
AS/NZS 60335.2.76:2003+A1-2 (until 2/10/15) or AS/NZS 60335.2.76+A1-3
- Flexible Heating Pad standards updated:
AS/NZS 60335.2.81:2006+A1 (until 26/10/14) or AS/NZS 60335.2.81:2012.
- Fluorescent Lamp Ballast has been updated to include T8:T5 adaptors:

- Immersion Heater has had the portable standard changed (was -2-55):

- Iron standard has the latest edition added:
AS/NZS 60335.2.3:2002+A1-2(until 26/10/15) or AS/NZS 60335.2.3:2012.
- Kitchen Machine has the latest standard added:
AS/NZS 60335.2.14+A1 (until 25/10/16) or AS/NZS 60335.2.14:2013.
- Lawn Care Appliance has an added class specification:
Robotic Lawn Mower- AS/NZS 60335.2.107:2013.
- Liquid Heating Appliance has the latest standard added:
AS/NZS 60335.2.15:2002+A1-4 (until 25/10/16) or AS/NZS 60335.2.15:2013
- Outlet Device has the standard changed for EPODs. Note no transition.
AS/NZS 3105:2012.
- Plug has the 2004 version of 3112 withdrawn. Must now be:
AS/NZS 3112:2011+A1-2.
- Power Supply or Charger has a few changes:
Exemption added: “But does not include:
(d) Information Technology and Audio Visual equipment that can use the output to also transmit data that is not associated with a power supply or charger function.”
Power supply for general use has another part 2 added:
AS/NZS 61558.2.6:2009+A1 or AS/NZS 61558.2.16:2010+A1-2.
Power Supply (electronic or transformer types) designated for use with specific electronic equipment has had the standards updated:
AS/NZS 60065:2012 or
AS/NZS 60950.1:2011+A1 or
AS/NZS 61558.2.6:2009+A1 or AS/NZS 61558.2.16:2010+A1-2.
Power Supply for lighting purposes has updated the LED standard:
